85 % of the area of the country is covered by the Sahara . Libya is one of the few countries of the world without a permanent river.

In 2011 there was a riot, processing to a civil war, against the long-standing leader Muammar al Gaddafi. Several big Cities in the east of the country were controlled by the National transitional Council in Bengasi, which is accredited by several states.
